Philippine Coins: 1991 2 PISO Elpidio Quirino Commemorative Coin
1990, marks the 100th birthday of the 6th President of the Philippines, Elpidio Quirino. In 1991, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas minted 2 PISO commemorative coins to celebrate this event. The coin was based on the iconic decagon- shaped, 2 PISO coin from the Flora and Fauna Series.

Aside from being the 6th President of the Philippines, Elpidio Quirino is also the 2nd President of the Third Republic. The years 1948 – 1953 on the reverse of the coin mark the years President Quirino was in office.
I may have labelled this coin wrong. According to online sources, this coin was minted in 1991. I remember seeing a few of these in circulation in the 90’s, but they were not very common. This coin was demonetized in 1998.
For collectors wanting this coin, it can be easily obtained from coin dealers for a cheap price. I found this coin in an old, forgotten bag of coins. I have 3 of these in my collection.

Depende po kasi sa condition ng coin. Kung maganda pa po, walang gasgas, makintab pa, pwede pong maibenta ng mas mataas na halaga. Kadalasan po ay nakakakita ako ng ganitong coin sa bargain bin ng mga coin dealers. Hindi rin po kasi gaanong in demand ang coin na ito. Binebenta po ito ng 10 Pesos kadalasan, pero ito at sa bargain bin. Ito yung mga coins na hindi na gaanong maganda.
Nabibili papoh ung lumang 2 pesos marami po kc akung ganun eh saka 1 peso rin dati,saka 50 cen ung may ibon papo nun,,
